The Junior Safety Consultant supports the delivery of occupational health and safety (OHS) services to clients through field work, documentation development, and general consulting support. This role assists in preparing assessments, audits, Exposure Control Plans (ECPs), Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), safety training materials, and other regulatory documents. The Junior Consultant also participates in site visits, hazard assessments, and supports senior consultants in maintaining compliance with WorkSafe BC and other regulatory bodies.
· Participate in site visits, walkthroughs, and inspections with senior staff.
· Gather field data, measurements, photos, and notes for hazard/risk assessments.
· Assist with sampling activities, PPE assessments, and verifying control measures.
· Follow all safety protocols and ensure safe conduct at client sites.
· Report field observations promptly and accurately.
· Draft safety documents including:
o Exposure Control Plans (ECPs)
o Safe Work Procedures (SWPs)
o Hazard/Risk Assessments
o Policy documents and safety forms
· Edit and update existing client documentation based on regulatory changes.
· Assist in preparing technical reports, audit summaries, and recommendations.
· Maintain organized, accurate project files and document naming conventions.
· Communicate professionally with clients regarding scheduling, information requests, and project updates.
· Assist project managers in coordinating site work, deliverables, and timelines.
· Attend client calls or meetings as required.
· Provide basic support and clarification to clients under senior guidance.
· Participate in internal training, mentorship, and technical development sessions.
· Stay current with OHSR, CSA Standards, and industry best practices.
· Build competencies in industrial hygiene, hazard assessments, and safety documentation.
· Prepare timesheets, expense reports, and field notes accurately and on time.
· Maintain readiness of sampling equipment, PPE, and field kits.
· Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
· Basic knowledge of WorkSafe BC OHSR and safety fundamentals.
· Strong written communication skills, especially in technical writing.
· Comfortable working in a variety of field environments.
· Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF editing tools.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites.
